The Human Resources Manager will work strategically and operationally to execute the business strategy of R. C. Stevens. This position will work collaboratively with Operations as well as other support areas to meet the needs of the company. The HR Manager will provide support and technical assistance to ensure the proper administration of HR policies and programs while actively managing the alignment of talent. This position will report to the Corporate Director of Operational Human Resources.
Frequent travel will be expected to our active construction sites, regional facilities and formal recruiting and hiring events. In addition, as overall company needs dictate, support to other business units and markets is expected of this role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Overall management of HR activities for R. C. Stevens including daily interaction with Executives and Project Managers to manage staffing strategies.
- Manages R. C. Stevens recruiter.
- Retain, develop, and attract top talent to the organization.
- Responsible for the direct hiring, staffing, and retention of team members either through direct effort, partnering with operational management and/or working with our Talent & Diversity Manager and Recruitment team.
- Provide ongoing support to field operations consulting in the areas of team member relations, performance evaluations, education and development, succession planning, and communication strategies.
- Handle employment relations with - related inquiries from applicants and team members including supervisors and management while referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate party.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of the organization on strategy and execution, ensuring commitment to current policies, procedures, and our merit shop philosophy.
- Conducts thorough and timely investigations of complaints, log investigative reports and work with management team on resolution to ensure compliance with R. C. Stevens Equal Employment Opportunity and Workplace Harassment policies.
- Coach and support frontline leadership and market managers on a variety of human resource topics.
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition, and overall team member engagement.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and Federal and State employment law.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 10+ years of Human Resources Management experience, preferable in the construction industry. SPHR Certification Preferred.
- Success in change management efforts within complex and challenging environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills including the ability to successfully work with all levels of the company providing honest, effective, and direct feedback.
- Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, HR Systems, etc.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with a track record for accepting responsibility and having sound judgment.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, team environment, remaining flexible, supportive, and adaptive to changes in direction, priorities, and job duties.
- Written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish.
